Automatic admission to East Texas A&M is based on the Foundation High School Program with at least one endorsement. Students are strongly recommended to complete one or more available endorsement(s) that include Algebra II or its equivalent as well as one science course from biology, chemistry or physics. Students applying for top 10% automatic admission must complete the foundation curriculum with a distinguished level of achievement.

Standards for full admission to East Texas A&M are based on the required high school curriculum (Foundation Plan). Entering freshmen must have successfully completed the following courses in high school:

  • English Language Arts (4 credits)
  • Mathematics (3 credits)
  • Science (3 credits)
  • Social Studies (3 credits)
  • Language other than English (2 credits)

Any one of the following:

  • Rank in the top 30% of graduating class or
  • If submitting scores, use the East Texas A&M codes 4088 (ACT) and 6188 (SAT) from encoura.org or collegeboard.org.

  • Dual credit courses are taken through your local community college that also count toward your high school diploma. In order to receive transfer credit from East Texas A&M for dual credit courses, you must submit a school transcript from any community college or university you attended.
  • Send your school transcript via our secure document upload or request that your school transcript is sent to the Admissions office electronically or via mail in a sealed envelope to:

East Texas A&M University accepts many College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams for credit in selected courses.

At the time of the test, you can request to send your scores to East Texas A&M University. If you did not request to send your scores in this manner or if you just need an additional score report, please visit the AP Score Center.

Scores for exams taken in May do not arrive at East Texas A&M until mid-July. Refer to this list of AP Exams awarded credit at East Texas A&M University.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a rigorous pre-university program, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19, available worldwide through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

In compliance with SB111, ETAMU offers at least 24 hours of credit to all IB diploma candidates with subject exam scores of 4 or higher. Students with IB certificates or courses are evaluated on a subject by subject basis upon receipt of an IB transcript. ETAMU must have an official score report sent directly from IB to award credit.

Texas Senate Bill 62 requires all students under age 22 who are entering an institution of higher education (public and private) to either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis or meet certain criteria to decline the vaccination 10 days before the first day of the semester.

  • myLeo > Apps > Residential Living and Learning > Housing Application
  • In the drop-down menu, select the option that best suits your needs.
  • Once you make a selection and click save and continue, your application will appear.
  • Please make sure to check the dates on the application to ensure these are the dates you wish to live in on-campus housing. If the dates are correct, click Apply.

You do not have to complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) if you have met one of the following:

  • Minimum college readiness standard on the SAT or ACT
  • Obtained the minimum required score(s) on the statewide high school STAAR EOCs Algebra II and English III exams (these are optional for high schools)
  • Veteran or active military waiver (must meet specific requirements for each category)
  • Transfer exemption (declaration by another institution)
  • Prior college-level coursework
